Contrast Sensitivity Test

The basis of contrast sensitivity test is to determine the eye’s power to discriminate an object from its background.

The more similar the color and shape of the target object are to its background, the more difficult it is to distinguish between them. In this test, different objects are used on different backgrounds. The reduction in contrast sensitivity (CS) is observed in many patients with eye diseases such as corneal diseases, cataracts, and retinal degenerative diseases.
